Wedding Checklist : Planning Progress Report ;)

18 Jul

Thanks for hanging in there with me everyone! It’s been a tough few weeks, trying to find time to keep up my blog, and to work out for that matter! A lot has been happening with the wedding planning, but I will get to more of that later!

My fiancé and I are getting back on the P90X bandwagon first thing Monday morning. I really have to stop making excuses for not waking up and just doing it. I have always been a night owl so I find it hard to go to sleep early, and then wake up early. I don’t have to work until 9, but my fiancé has to leave at 7am for work, meaning we are working out at 6am or before! Ahhh!

Wedding Checklist

We have made a commitment to each other to really see this through {plus, I want to look exquisite on our wedding day!}
Here are the things we have been able to accomplish from our own wedding checklist so far:

  • Down payment on the venue is paid
  • Wedding dress is chosen and almost paid off. {can’t show pix because my fiancé reads my blog, sorry!}
  • Bridesmaid dresses chosen and ordered.
  • Overall theme of wedding has been decided. We are going for a laid back old fashioned {western} wedding, with touches of vintage glam.
  • Color scheme selected. Yellow, orange, brown, forest green and Tiffany blue. Basically the colors of a sunflower and the sky above.
  • Primary flower = sunflower. Duh!
  • We have been in conversation with a graphic designer about our stationary. He is a great friend of mine, and is very talented. Check him out! www.thatsgravydesigns.com We are a little ahead of the game on this, but I figured why not, since I have a friend working on it. 
  • Bridal party has been selected.
  • Photographer has been selected. We are meeting with her next week! www.Facebook.com/StephanieFongPhotography

Our next big task is to decide exactly that we are going to be doing for food. We are having 85 people at our wedding, and we have a tight budget. We are thinking of having make your own sandwiches. This way we feed people, but it’s not too expensive.
What are your suggestions for budget wedding food?

    I did P90X for over six months- religiously. LOVE it. I found the mornings didn’t work for me or my husband either, so we did it later in the day. Found it worked so much better, I worked out harder, etc. The only problem is it interfered with my happy hour time… Good luck! I am sure you will look beautiful for your wedding!

      Thanks girl! I am so excited. We are going to try mornings for a few days and see how it works. We did Insanity for the 60 days and did evenings, which worked well for a while, until we had to start canceling plans with friends because of the workout or vice versa! We figured mornings we can just get it over with. Luckily, P90X is easier to do in the mornings than jumping around like a lunatic doing Insanity! 🙂 What are you doing now for workouts?

        I hear you on the plans thing…it was a bummer! I now do hot yoga. Have found my calling for life I think. Been at it 5 days a week for 7 months. IN LOVE. 😉 though I do love P90X too, this is just more my style I think! GOOD LUCK!!!! I can’t wait to see your progress!

        Thanks! I also love Yoga! I used to teach it at a Dance studio here in San Diego and I was in awesome shape. Then I stopped teaching it and got out of shape haha. I am excited to share my results with everyone. Thanks!

    Sandwiches for 85 people might get pricey as well depending what type of sandwiches. We have seen many weddings where they recruit family to help out as much as possible with the cooking.
    For an old fashioned western wedding you could do mashed potatoes, baked beans, some type of meat, and buns/biscuits. There are lots of great ideas that would fit with your theme. Congratulations and good luck!

      Wow thank you so much for the idea! That may actually work. Some of my brothers friends have volunteered to help with set up and take down, and they are all used to cooking for large groups of people because they were boy scouts! Maybe they can help us with the food too. 🙂

    I agree with Northern Pixel Photography. Sandwiches don’t really go with a Western theme and if it is a feed yourself buffet style, sandwiches can be a hassle. (I’ve been to 2 weddings where it was sandwich assembly and people took rather long to assemble their choices and it was also not very sanitary because unless you have someone doling out the meat, there isn’t anyone to stop someone from using their hands and touching other items.) So I agree with NPP on sandwiches not being the best of choices from my own personal experience. 😉

      Thank you for the great advice! I think the sandwiches may be out. 🙂 Learn from others mistakes right? 🙂
